Jail for Scunthorpe drink-driver who took to the wheel because it was too cold to walk
A BANNED motorist who drove his car after a drinking session because it was too cold to walk has been jailed for 16 weeks.
Mindaugas Vaitele, 26, of Digby Street, Scunthorpe, admitted failing to provide a breath specimen, driving while disqualified and having no insurance on December 3.

Jayne Wilson, prosecuting, told North Lincolnshire Magistrates' Court that, at an earlier hearing at the same court on October 30, Vaitele had been banned from driving for 16 months for a similar offence.
He was spotted driving just before 5am on Digby Street and smelled of alcohol, she said.

A roadside breath test was positive but he later became obstructive at the police station and the required two further samples could not be taken, the prosecutor said.
He later admitted he drove because it was cold outside and he did not want to walk, said Mrs Wilson.
Vicky Lee, mitigating, said father-of-two Vaitele realised it was a serious offence because it happened only about five weeks after the ban had been imposed.
Vaitele was banned from driving for three years.
