IPSWICH Town boss Paul Jewell was pleased to see his side end a three-match winless streak in front of their own fans.

But he admitted the match had been indicative of the best and worst traits the Tractor Boys have displayed in what has been an inconsistent campaign.

"They were two great goals that would have graced any game," Jewell said of Carlos Edwards' and Jimmy Bullard's strikes.

"But inbetween them we had lots of opportunities. We should have put the game to bed.

"That's our Achilles heel, missing chances and wasting opportunities, so it was lovely to see the goals go in.

"With our recent home form, if we have another 23 of them next season, I'll take that."

Jewell praised his players' professionalism against the Iron, a match he felt had all the hallmarks of being a potential 'banana skin' given the week's event at Glanford Park.

"You can't be disrespectful to Scunthorpe because they've beaten Forest and Swansea during the last month," added the former Derby and Wigan boss.

"This league is tough. They came with an honest group of players and never gave in, but I thought we went about the game really well first half.

"We attacked them and got good balls into the box – we just didn't get enough on the end of them.

"If that had have happened, we may have had a better performance second half. As it didn't the game petered out a little bit.

"It's important to get any result to build for the next one."
