“The Chancellor claims tonight at a dinner that things are getting better, the queues at job centres say different - and this labour government wonder why people say they haven't got a clue. Labour MPs and cabinet ministers shout stop spouting rhetoric that no one believes, tell the truth, sort out peoples concerns, EARN YOUR WAGES FOR A CHANGE and just maybe you may win the next election-IF YOU PRAY HARD ENOUGH.”

“The situation is only going to get worse.
According to John Philpott, chief economist of The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD): "even if the private sector is poised for an upturn, inevitable cuts in the public sector ¿ 350,000 job losses are predicted in the next five years ¿ will depress the job market".
These losses due entirely down to the Government`s recent borrowing spree.”

“Good posts the pair of you!
No Government or Opposition party will ever give the true number of people not working because that figure would show how badly they have managed things.
A 1% rise in 2.5 million job seeking is far more palatable than a 1% rise in 5 million not working!”

“The Government official figures only show those that are claiming Jobseekers Allowances. There are other factors that cause unemployed people not to be included in those figures, such as local ex-steelworkers who have taken early retirement. They get their steelworks pension which is more that the level of Jobseekers Allowance so do not qualify for it and therefore do not show up in the Government figures, yet they might well feel that they would like to continue working in some form outside of the steel industry. I am sure that there are many more examples of this kind across the country but yet again is not reflected in the 'official unemployment figures'. Lastly, I am confident that should the unemployment figures get too high then the Government will once again change the way the figure are counted to give the impression that things are not as bad as they really are.”

“Did not Bliar and Brown say they had broken boom and bust. Or have i got that wrong. And dont no one bother telling me that the world wide recesion is the cause of jops going at the rate they are. Companies are jumping on the bandwagon and using the recession as an excuse.”
