JOSH Wright has asked to leave Scunthorpe United - because he cannot settle up north.

The talented midfielder has told the Iron he will not be signing a new deal when his present one expires in the summer and he is keen to move on as quickly as possible.

United have revealed there have been no offers for the 21-year-old, who a fortnight ago claimed Reading had shown an interest in him, but they are almost certain to cash in if a testing offer comes their way.

"He came to speak to me about it," Baraclough told the Iron's official website, having last night claimed to have no knowledge of Wright's desire to leave the club when questioned by the Telegraph.

"He was offered a new deal and expressed his wish to move on and said he wasn't interested in signing a new deal.

"He's not been able to settle very well in the area, which is something I was unaware of, and he feels it will be best for him to move on - whether it's in this transfer window or at the end of the season.

"Josh is a person who has given 100 per cent at all times and it will be a sad loss to lose him because I think he's gone and progressed well at this club."

Wright's decision to hand in a transfer request is another blow to a Scunthorpe team already reeling from Conor Sammon's decision to snub a £600,000 move from Kilmarnock.

“What's the issue with Parkin then ?

Roy Keane for manager ! ! ! ! ! The players will play for him or they'll be out, and he'll attract other players with the right mentality, ones that want to win and not just plod through the lower divisions.”

“To be fair to our north bank friend, Dave has a point.

How are we supposed to attract new players when existing players don`t want to stay or when other players publicly slate the club and facilities?”

“Unfortunately, Bara knows Parkin from 'the old days' so it will be a wrench.

Comment about Bara is correct though. He was a good coach under Adkins. I don't recall him getting stick then, just AC. He needs time, just like Adkins did.

Goodbye Josh Wright. You did your share and cost nothing.”

“No great loss, light weight, cant pass and cant tackle. Only worry is no one will pay anything for him because of it”

“P.Doff I think the Parkin issue is right on the nail. When he was at HC we did absolutely nothing. Best to get rid and get in someone decent. But you must keep your manager because he is quality.”
