Ten letters of objection were received, some suggesting the building was too big and that it might be used as a function room.

The now-approved building will provide changing rooms for football and rugby teams using nearby pitches and a pavilion for the recently established bowls team using the site.

Suggesting permission should be given, Councillor John England (Messingham) said he wished to congratulate KLASSIC for setting out to provide sporting facilities in Kirton "against all the odds."

With bowls and football established and cricket planned, there was clearly demand for "some sort of pavilion."

Councillor John Collinson (Ashby) added his support for the plan to provide sport and leisure.
