Killingholme man stole chicken to appease angry girlfriend, court told
FEAR of getting another tongue-lashing from his angry girlfriend led a man to go out and steal chicken in a desperate bid to "appease" her.
She was furious there was no meat in the house for their Sunday lunch, a court heard.
Barry Britcliffe, 34, of Top Road, South Killingholme, admitted stealing three packs of chicken, valued at £10, from Tesco Express on August 20.
Sue Barker, prosecuting, told Grimsby magistrates Britcliffe was stopped as he left the shop in Yarborough Road.

Gary Bulbeck, mitigating, said Britcliffe claimed his girlfriend had been "having a go at him" because there was no meat in the house for their Sunday lunch.
"He stole the meat in an attempt to appease her," said Mr Bulbeck.
Britcliffe was given a one-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs.
