“I’ve just got one more fitting this Saturday to sort my hemline out on the dress. Liam’s been fitted for his suit too.

“It will be two weeks this Sunday, so it’s not long.”

The hen party joined Alice last weekend for quiet celebrations.

She said: “Liam is having his get-together on October 13 – the day after his birthday. He’s going to Riley’s with his friends.”

Mr Thompson was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma – an aggressive form of bone cancer – in August last year.

He has already lost his leg to the cancer and has now been told there is nothing more doctors can do.

Mr Thompson does not know how long he has to live but wanted to bring forward plans to marry his fiancee Alice Faulkner, 21.

The Scunthorpe Telegraph set up a community campaign to help organise a wedding for Alice and Liam as soon as possible. The generous response from readers and local businesses resulted in the majority of the wedding being organised within days – enabling the couple to focus on treatment and look forward to their big day.

Oasis Hair Design in Brigg will open for Alice’s wedding party on the morning of the wedding for all the hair requirements.

The bride and bridesmaids have already been in to have a trial with the final styles they have chosen.

Miss Faulkner said: “I’ve had my hair trial. I just have my make up to sort out and that’s it – it’s all come together.”

Essence Flowers, of Burton-Upon-Stather, will be doing the table decorations and flowers.

A family friend is making the wedding cake.

The Wolds Choir will be singing in church and Balloons Galore is doing all the balloons, including an archway and exploding balloons above the dancefloor at the reception venue at The Wortley House Hotel, Scunthorpe.

Days Menswear at Barton is providing three suits, including the bridegroom’s.

Know Media will be doing the photography and Soaps & Scented from Doncaster will be doing the favours.

And the offer of a tank from Tanks 4 Everything, to take Mr Thompson to church, has been accepted, while Miss Faulkner has taken up an offer from Keith and Pauline Chidwick to have a classic car take her to the church.

The couple’s banns have been read out in the services for the three consecutive Sunday's.

We are collecting your wedding wishes, letters and cards for Liam and Alice to have as a keepsake.
