Lincoln prove far too strong for Ladies A team
Following Scunthorpe Ladies B team's first round exit to Lincoln A in the National Ladies Over 60s (Mason Trophy) competition (one rink home and one away) Scunthorpe's A side faced a first round fixture against Lincoln B.
The home Scunthorpe rink of Sheila Betts, Sue Wooldridge, Barbara Sims and Edna Cook found the visiting Lincoln Ladies rink a handful from the off with the visitors developing an early 8-0 lead.
The Scunthorpe quartet tried hard to edge their way back into the game by playing some good shots but unfortunately these were a little spasmodic while the Lincoln four produced the more consistent quality bowls.
They continued to keep the pressure on the Scunthorpe rink who desperately tried hard to claw their way back into the match but to no avail eventually losing to the Lincoln rink by 19 to 11 shots.

The Scunthorpe rink of Glenda Martinson, Margaret Berry, Margaret Saunby and Greta Deboer faced the tough task of playing a Lincoln rink on their own green.
The visitors set off exceptionally well, bowling their way in to an early lead of 10-2 and looking as though they had settled into the game well.
However the home Lincoln quartet started to ease the accelerator down steadily reducing the advantage the visitors had built up.
At the halfway stage the Scunthorpe four had managed to just hold on to the lead 13-10.
At this point the home Lincoln rink went into overdrive, powering their way into a lead of 25-13 and with some consistent precision play, they eventually finished the match with a comfortable 37-13 win.
After the collation of the scores, it was the Lincoln B team that took an emphatic overall victory of 56-24 to secure a place in the next round of the competition.
