APP-FROD'S Kieran Watson continued his busy summer of cricket by playing a starring role for Lincolnshire Under-17s in their win over Bedfordshire Under-17s at Brumby Hall.

Kieran and County Under-17s captain Matt Fowler have both forced their way into App-Frod CC's first team, who play their Yorkshire Premier Division home games at the same venue, this season.

Kieran returned figures of four for 35 as Lincolnshire brushed aside Bedfordshire's young side comfortably at the home of the Steelmen.

The visiting side were bowled out for 157 in 49.4 overs, allowing Lincolnshire to make a successful playing return to Scunthorpe.

Kieran's four-wicket haul came in just 11 overs, but he shared the bowling spoils with Harry Clewett, who took four for 29 in 16.4 overs.

Lincolnshire then raced to a 275 all-out total to assume a commanding position.

Bracebridge Heath's James Wright was the top-scoring batsman with a knock of 69, closely followed by Steve Crossley on 60.

Hartsholme's Kit Spence struck 39 and Harry finished on 21 not out to set-up victory for the home side.

Bedfordshire were put into bat again and were standing at 46 for one after tea, still 72 runs short of their target.

So with a final result unlikely, Lincolnshire, leading the contest, chose to bring proceedings to a close half an hour after tea.

The game was the home side's final of the season, in which they narrowly finished third behind Cambridgeshire and Norfolk in the ECB Under-17 County Championship Division Two B table.
