FORMER Scunthorpe United fans' favourite Paul Hayes could be back at Glanford Park tomorrow.

The 27-year-old striker is believed to be on the verge of a loan move to Derby County.

The only question mark seems to be whether the deal will be done in time for tomorrow's Championship clash.

Hayes has been unable to settle at Preston North End since joining them last summer from Scunthorpe.

He has already had one loan spell out this season at Barnsley, where he failed to score in seven appearances – and now looks set for Pride Park.

Media sources in Derby believe Hayes is about to become the Rams' third loan signing within the past couple of weeks.

Manager Nigel Clough wants him to form a new partnership up front at Pride Park with Jamie Ward, who will make his debut at Glanford Park after joining on loan this week from Sheffield United.

The other new loanee is centre-back Daniel Ayala from Liverpool.

Clough though, is hoping further reinforcements are on the way.

"We are waiting for decisions on two or three other players," he said.

“What a novel idea Roundhead/Tescos, lets boo Hayes all game, afterall he rejected a two year deal including a fishcake at the Atlanis chippy and the option of a further two months should he net 40 goals by January 2011.

Come on DRE - boo his every touch, that way he'll never score!

(Ayala is a class player BTW)

Up the Iron - ONE PAUL HAYES, in an era where passion/effort/chest beating wins plauditsover ability, this was one truelly skillfull player whos first five yards genuinley was/is in his head.”

“A great loan signing for Derby...they'll be playing Champions League football in a couple of years with this talisman in their side. Apparently he's the best player in the world.
It will also ensure a full house at Glanford Park tomorrow as all his admirers will turn out in force to see this amazing talent.
Apparently if we hadn't sold him in the summer we would be twenty points clear at the top of the division.”
