IT WAS not his request for a transfer that cost midfield man Josh Wright his place in the Scunthorpe United side – it was a loss of form.

But his decision to come off the transfer list is a move which has pleased manager Ian Baraclough.

The 21-year-old player remains in contention as the Iron face a hectic spell of catch-up football with two games a week for the next five weeks.

"I never doubted Josh's commitment for one minute," insisted Baraclough.

"The reason he found himself out of the side was down to a loss of form.

"Now I am looking for him to show me in training that he is ready to challenge for his place."

Wright himself admits he may have been 'rash' to hand in a transfer request.

"I am a young boy and a few clubs turned my head both before the transfer window and during it," he confessed.

"Now I just want to concentrate on getting back in here at Scunthorpe and doing well for the team.

"I don't want a relegation on my CV, I don't want the team to go down and I don't want to be part of a team that goes down.

"It would not be the end of the world for me if I was still here next season, especially if Scunthorpe were still in the Championship."
