MP Nic Dakin welcomes Scunthorpe General Hospital death rate investigation
An announcement that Scunthorpe General Hospital is to be included in an investigation into hospitals with high death rates has been welcomed by the town's MP.
The Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, is one of nine trusts announced to be part of the investigation by NHS medical director Sir Bruce Keogh.

The trust is described as an 'outlier' for mortality rates, meaning its death rates are higher than expected.
Scunthorpe MP Nic Dakin said: "It is good news for the local people that there will be an independent inspection by Sir Bruce Keogh's team.

"Having said that, it is clear that the hospital and other health partners have taken very seriously the issue of high mortality rates and have got very strong measures in place to improve the situation.
"It is crucial, however, for local people that things improve rapidly and that is why I welcome Sir Bruce Keogh's inspection.
"When the investigation was announced last week, I expected this to happen.
"We are an outlier for mortality rates, so it is right and proper that it is looked at." What do you think? viewpoint@scunthorpetelegraph.co.uk
