BRIGG and Goole MP Ian Cawsey is hoping to take the pop charts by storm as part of parliamentary rock band MP4.

The group are set to launch their first full length album, called Cross Party, next week.

The record features eight original songs and three cover versions and all proceeds from its sale will go to the Help For Heroes charity.

Mr Cawsey plays bass guitar and takes lead vocals in the band, which also includes Conservative MP for East Yorkshire, Greg Knight, Labour MP for Cardiff West, Kev Brennan and Scottish National Party MP for Perth and North Perthshire, Pete Wishart.

Mr Cawsey said: "It is surprisingly good.

"The former British Phonographic Industry (BPI) chairman, Peter Jameson, had this idea to do an MP4 recording because it is quite a novelty thing and it was thought that there should be a recording of it all.

"We wanted to do it for a good cause and we thought hopefully, other people in the industry would come on board and we could make a half-decent product."

The record has been produced by Robin Millar, who has been involved in recordings selling a total of 55 million copies.

Additional support came from Chris Kinsey, who has worked with the Rolling Stones, while one of the tracks on the album was remixed by Pete Waterman.

The album, which is being released by the Revolver Records label, will be available as a CD and on download websites.
