They're keen to hear from members of the community who have turned the tables on the crooks with the aid of video surveillance, photo evidence or just good old fashioned cunning.
With filming of the show, called Fight Back Britain, due to start in April, the producers are searching for inspirational stories to include in the show.

No dates or locations have been set in Scunthorpe yet, but show officials say they "very much hope" to be coming to Scunthorpe in April, and are currently researching "crime heroes" in the area.
Series producer Fiona Inskip said: "With over half the population in the UK now owning a smartphone, capable of taking photos and video footage whenever and wherever, people everywhere are making a difference in the fight against crime and antisocial behaviour. What's more, everyday more and more of us are using technology such as CCTV and computer software programs to protect our homes and possessions. We'd love to hear from anyone who has helped the police to solve a crime, no matter how big or small."
The series will air later this year on BBC1 and will tell stories through interviews and reconstructions in an attempt to raise awareness about how crimes can be committed and how criminals may operate. Anyone wanting the chance to share their story should call 0207 013 4208 or email crime@rdftelevision.com

“Perhaps 'have a go' hero Gurch Singh could take part and reconstruct how he chased Wazza down the street, pity he didn't catch him and duff him up.”

“Can the ST confirm that Scunthorpe has been selected by the producers and this isn't just another slanted national story (non-story).
I have researched this myself and Rob Kelly is the company's producer and he is on the internet asking on a NATIONAL basis for anyone who has thwarted crime through their own efforts. It is obvious that it isn't a series that will be based in this town as the above story infers. Scunthorpe MAY feature in ONE of the MANY instances the series will show.
So what you MAY get is a pixelated CCTV / mobile phone video snippet set in part of the town with a brief interview with the taker and a pixelated picture of an arrest.
It is not going to be The Only Way is Scunthorpe as this reporter is making out.”
