Man (26) admits punching doorman outside Bamboogie nightspot in Scunthorpe

A DOORMAN at a Scunthorpe nightspot fell to the floor after being punched from behind, a court heard.

Stephen Cleary, of St Albans Close, Scunthorpe admitted punching David Montandon outside Bamboogie in Scunthorpe on December 9.

Jayne Wilson, prosecuting, told North Lincolnshire Magistrates Court that Cleary, 26, had been ejected from Bamboogie for causing problems.

Once outside, Cleary delivered a single punch to the side of Mr Montandon's face in an unprovoked attack whilst the doorman was looking away. The punch sent him to the floor and left him with a swollen lip.

In interview Cleary told officers he had no recollection of the event and that he had consumed cocaine and alcohol prior to going out in Scunthorpe town centre.

Having been shown CCTV footage of the incident he conceded he threw the punch.

Cleary's case was adjourned for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
