Man jailed for abusing two boys
A DISTRAUGHT dad, whose two sons were sexually abused by a convicted sex offender, believes his family should have been warned of the danger he posed.
Matthew Gomm, 19, formerly of Wordsworth Road, Scunthorpe, was yesterday caged for 44 months after admitting a total of 11 charges involving sex offences involving the two boys.

Child abuser Matthew Gomm moved to Scunthorpe and abused two boys just months after being convicted for similar child sex offences.
These included sexual activity with a child under 13 and sexual activity in the presence of a child.
Judge Roger Thorn QC, sitting at Hull Crown Court, jailed Gomm and placed him on the sex offender's register for life.
Gomm was also made subject to a life-time Sexual Offences Prevention Order, designed to prevent any similar re-offending.
Hull Crown Court heard Gomm had previously been given a three-year supervision order for sexual offences against pre-teenage girls in North East Lincolnshire before moving to Scunthorpe.
The victims' father, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said: "I am disgusted that he was allowed to come to Scunthorpe and nobody was informed."
He said there should be a better "system" in place for notifying communities about sex offenders.
He added: "I think they should have stopped him hanging around with kids."
Gomm abused his two male victims after winning the confidence of their family, the court heard.
"The boy's mother met the defendant, who told her he had just moved into the area and did not have any friends," Patrick Palmer, prosecuting, said.
But, he explained: "She was entirely unaware that at the time he was subject to supervision, in respect to similar offences against girls."
Gomm was allowed to spend time with the youngsters. He occasionally acted as a babysitter and abused his position of trust by involving them in sexual activities.
Gomm told the two boys they would be seriously harmed if they told anyone about what he had done.
"He boasted that he stabbed people and he was connected to the gypsies," said Mr Palmer.
He added: "He told one of the boys, if he told anyone, he would slash him and cut him up."
The offences came to light when their mother saw Gomm with one of her sons in what she regarded as suspicious circumstances.
She later quizzed the boy about the event and he revealed some details of the abuse. "She was absolutely shocked by the disclosures," Mr Palmer told the court.
Police were informed and both boys told officers about Gomm's behaviour.
It was later discovered Gomm had plied one of the youngsters with alcohol before committing a sex offence. "The boy let him do it because Gomm told him it was natural," Mr Palmer explained.
David Taylor, for Gomm, said there was no evidence the defendant had any psychiatric problems.
He asked Judge Thorn to give his client 'substantial credit' for his guilty pleas.
