The offender is described as white man,in his 20s, of stocky build, with dark brown hair. He was wearing a black top and jeans.

Police have already spoken to a number of witnesses but think there were a number other people inside the Showboat at the time who have yet to speak to them.

Detective Sergeant Dean Minter said: "This appears to have been an unprovoked, serious assault on a man who was getting ready to exit the premises with a number of his friends.

"The man sustained a very nasty injury and has undergone a serious operation on his jaw, for which he had to travel to Hull for treatment.

"I would like to encourage anyone who may have information about the incident to come forward and speak to police, as you may be able to help us locate the offender.

"Police in North Lincolnshire work hard to keep the town centre in Scunthorpe and the surrounding areas safe for people who wish to visit them. It is for this reason that we need to bring this offender to justice."

Anyone who may have information is asked to call Humberside Police on 101, quoting crime reference 1915838, or call Crimestoppers tel 0800 555 111.
