Grimsby fan will run 10k wearing Iron shirt to raise funds for Cancer Research
A GRIMSBY Town fan is humiliating himself to fight the disease that claimed his mother's life, and nearly took his own.
Cancer survivor Scott Worboys, 39, of Cadney, near Brigg, will run ten kilometres wearing a Scunthorpe United shirt.

GETTING SHIRTY: Grimsby Town fan Scott Worboys was presented with a Scunthorpe United shirt by Iron fans at the Honest Lawyer, Scunthorpe. He will wear the shirt for a charity run. Picture: David Haber.
His run, in Leeds, will raise money for Cancer Research.
The Iron fans who goaded him into the deed pledged greater sponsorship if he wore their club's shirt.
Scott met supporters from fan site Iron Bru for the handover of the shirt at The Honest Lawyer in Scunthorpe. It was a match day, and Scott was wearing his Mariners shirt.
He said: "I felt ridiculous.
"When I woke up I thought I've done some daft and crazy football-related things. Even up the road I was getting really funny looks. There was a wedding in full swing and they were all looking."
Painful though it was to get cosy with his rivals' kit, Scott swallowed his pride to urge fans of both teams to dig deep for Cancer Research.
"The fans off Iron Bru have been fantastic," he said. "If they're getting all this money together, the least I can do is humiliate myself for it.
"We really are giving cancer a bloody nose."
Scott had posted his sponsorship link on fan site Iron Bru.
He offered to wear an Iron shirt if fans would sponsor him £250, and that was reached within a day.
Die-hard Iron fan Anthony Dent regularly posts on the online forum, where Scunthorpe United fans and Mariners frequently wind each other up.
He said: "Scott hadn't been on the site for a while, then he appeared and said he'd had an illness.
"He put his link up and we all took the mick, then a few people started putting money up.
"He kept saying thank you, and it started to snowball."
Though he is happy to be helping a fellow football supporter, he is equally pleased to be denting a Mariner's pride.
"It's what dreams are made of, getting a Mariner to make a fool of himself," said Anthony. "We want the pictures of him doing the run so we can splash it all over the website so he can never walk in Grimsby again.
"It's all good-natured banter."
So far more than £1,300 has been raised, and the run is not until October 31.
Anthony added: "Joking aside, it does top beating seven bells out of each other, which is what you might usually expect."

“Fair play to the Scunny fans, they are proof that some things are more important than football rivalry. But Anthony Dent aka Fans 64 is a huge hypocrite.”
