A judicial review at the Administrative Court in Leeds has heard evidence from those supporting and opposing the retail park, which is also due to include a Debenhams store.
The development has been earmarked for the site of the Stephen H Smith's Garden Centre, on Doncaster Road.

North Lincolnshire Council's planning committee has twice voted in favour of granting planning permission for it.
But the judicial review came about when a legal challenge to the council's decision was brought by Zurich Assurance Ltd, trading as Threadneedle Property Investments, which represents Scunthorpe's Foundry shopping centre.

“Excellent. I hope the decision makes the town centre outlets and owners buck their ideas up in stead of their Cuckooesque sit back and they shall come attitude. Perhaps we will see some toilets built, free car parking, curbing of pound shops and bakers.”

“Yes at last common sense has prevailed. However, it says all there is to say about the small minded, petty parochial and 'political' divisions and resentments that pervade North Lincolnshire - even moreso Scunthorpe - that that common sense had to come and be applied from elsewhere!!”
