MIDFIELDER Michael O'Connor looks like having to sit out Scunthorpe United's Championship trip to Elland Road on Saturday - after arriving at today's pre-match press conference on crutches.

The Iron have so far stayed quiet on the former Crewe ace's problem - with the Iron's players ordered not to speak about their injuries to the media.

But with heavy strapping on his knee, the Northern Ireland international is sure to be unavailable for the weekend.

The absence of O'Connor, who has been one of the club's better performers in recent weeks, will be a big blow to boss Ian Baraclough, who is already facing up to the possiblity of being without winger Garry Thompson and defensive duo Rob Jones and Cliff Byrne because of injury at Leeds.

“Sorry guys, but one more addition for the coach trip, Mr Wharton has asked Rob to drop him off at Barclays Bank in Scunny. Wharton is visiting The Bank Manager, and has booked a crash course on how to fill in a CASH WITHDRAWAL FORM, he hasn't done one of these for a long time, that's what is probably holding up the signing of the five players that were coming in at the start of January !!!!!!!!!!!!”

“I HEAR THAT sATURDAYS GAME AT lEEDS MAY BE CALLED OFF.

The team coach has been re-scheduled to go to Lilleshall to take Canavan, Raynes, O'Connor, Thompson and Mirfin for a weeks fitness trip, Rob Jones has been upgraded by Mr Wharton to drive the bus on a full time basis, in order to save the costs of a driver. Joe Murphy may also make to trip, so that he can have his reflexes checked out, Pressman will also be engaged on the outing so that he can centre a few balls from the touchline.

    What next ?????????”

“For how much longer is the club going to insult our intelligence? It is farcical that these twists and turns happen on a daily basis and to a predictable pattern. This is an injury sustained in conversation.”

“If they're not supposed to give any info to the media, why did he turn up at a press conference bandaged and on crutches?!!!

Good timing on the 'injury' after slagging the fans off...January just gets better!!

We're going to need our Billy Butlins reject announcer big style at the Burnley game "Come on get behind them, they're your boys, we need that 12th man, let's do a mexican wave..." It's gone from being annoying to farcical...brilliant stuff "Carry on Football" Ha ha ha!!”

“maybe he can use the spare time on his hands to check out some " league one " clubs because that is all he is fit for ( by his own judgment )...... never wish any player illness or injury, but maybe this is a convenient one to save his embarrassment on the pitch !!!!!!!!!!!!”
