CULTIVATING relationships is paramount to Scunthorpe United striker Lee Miller right now.

While the Iron were falling to a 2-0 defeat at Middlesbrough, the on-loan front man, borrowed from the latter, was witnessing the birth of his third child.

Miller and the newest member to the family, Bobby, have some bonding to do.

But on the football pitch, he and fellow loan forward Joe Garner could do with striking up a partnership of their own in a bid to salvage United's sinking season.

The Nottingham Forest player netted his first goal for the Iron against Hull on Saturday, and Miller believes it is only a matter of time before he too breaks his Scunthorpe duck.

"Obviously we have only played one game together," said the 27-year-old ahead of tomorrow's clash with Cardiff City.

"You saw glimpses against Hull. In training, Joe is a really good player, good in the air as well as being quick around the box and quick with his feet.

"Hopefully we can strike up a partnership, but only games and time will tell.

"Both of us are confident lads and confident in our own ability.

"It is just about putting a performance on and keeping the ball for long periods of time.

"I have been asked to make the ball stick up front throughout my career.

"I have done it quite successfully so far, so I hope I can do that for Scunthorpe."

The next chance to prove his worth is at the Cardiff City Stadium, against the free-scoring Bluebirds.

"They are a great side, going forward they are a real threat," added Miller.

"But hopefully we can exploit the holes they leave going forward, come away from there with a clean-sheet and nick a result."

“..cos that is what you'd do - 'your' team struggles and you'd bin them for a bigger club like Leeds, over hull?

We had the bigger share of the ball against hull and you took five of your six shots on goal...PROZONE FACTS. No doubt you believe that your win at GP was in some way worthy of more points than the THREE we took at the KC?

If you want to discuss 'big time' - set aside an afternoon and I'll tell you all about our FOUR Wembley visits. You wont find United fans trailing through the hull website after snippets because hull aren't our rivals.

    Up the Iron!”

“Dream on 1500club scunnys days in the big time are ending forever, why not join Oscar at Brigg and get value for money, a decent pie and pint. (not to mention the chance of a home win) You are deluded if you think you played ok and got beat 5-1.”
