Mini roundabout might help Bridge Street motorists on A18 in Brigg suggests columnist Nigel Fisher
GAINING access to Bridge Street is proving increasingly difficult for Brigg motorists.
We are talking about trying to inch out on to the A18 – one of the busiest roads in North Lincolnshire – at various times from early morning through to early evening, Monday to Saturday.

Murco petrol station
The "business end" of Bridge Street, near the Yarborough Hunt.
Some drivers with local knowledge get round this by turning left, instead of right, to get on to the A18 before executing sharp U-turns by using the entrances to Kiln Lane and Island Carr Road as makeshift circles.
This practice is more than a shade irregular and will not have been envisaged, or endorsed, by traffic experts.
But it beats sitting for long periods in the hope that approaching drivers on both sides of the A18 are going to stop and let waiting drivers execute their right turns.
Perhaps there is a case for highway and traffic experts being asked to look at the possibility of a mini-roundabout or two on Bridge Street.
With many more homes to be built in Brigg over the coming years – generating lots of extra traffic – things can only get worse on this section of the A18.

“Needs something doing, trouble with mini roundabouts is drivers that drive striaght over them esepecialy if turning right they just drive diagonaly across the centre, if they are raised the HGV's have problems geting round them. I must admit I have done a left turn out of Bridge Street then turn right turn round then do a left at the junction, as for a U turn on A18 could be asking for trouble. Lights may be a better option but it's the cost.”
