Ten years on, Leanne has set up the Leanne Charlton School of Dance that runs sessions at both Melior Community College and Messingham Village Hall.

"It has always been my dream since I was about five years old to set up my own dance school," she said.

"I have been teaching for about five years now but have decided to go it alone.

"My uncle died very suddenly and I just thought, life is too short and that was it really. Things went from there."

Leanne said that dancing has always been a big part of her life and her passion, although she left ballet school after just one year.

She now hopes that she can take the dance school from strength to strength.

"I was only there for a year as I was mugged twice and was really homesick," she said.

"I then started a beauty therapy course and wanted to get back in to my teaching so I started taking all my qualifications.

"If kids can be inspired through dancing then that is what I want, as dancing is the best thing that I have ever done."

When Leanne returned to Scunthorpe after her year in Manchester, her brother put her forward for the Miss Scunthorpe Telegraph 2002.

Speaking of the experience, Leanne said: "It was absolutely fantastic. I loved every minute of it."

Leanne has praised Jane Wright, of Eddie Wright car dealership – where she currently works – for her help.

"At the minute I am teaching at Melior Community on Wednesdays and Messingham village on Sundays," she said.

"I am looking to do it all of the time, every week night and weekends when it builds up.

"I have got this job at Eddie Wright and they have helped fund it and have been ever so good to me. Jane has been really helpful."
