Iron boss Baraclough: Momentum went when floodlights failed
MANAGER Ian Baraclough found it hard to believe his side had thrown away the chance of what he felt should have been a second home win of the season.
And as well as defensive mistakes, he pointed the finger at the two second half floodlight failures which stunted his team's momentum.

IN THE DARK: Match referee Andy Haines (right) chats with managers Malky Mackay and Ian Baraclough after the floodlights went out at Glanford Park for a second time. Picture: David Haber.
"We really thought that at the start of the new year we could start to turn our home form around," he declared.
"And we should have done.
"It's a game we have lost that we should have won with the amount we have put in.
"We were the better team on the day for me and I am sure their manager will be going back down the M1 wondering how his team have got away with three points.
"We have had the better of the openings, their goalkeeper has pulled off one or two good saves.
"We have missed a penalty, but we have helped them along the way with their two goals.
"Apart from that I cannot understand how we have lost!
"We talked about concentrating and thinking correctly and unfortunately we have made the wrong decisions.
"But that is happening a bit too regularly now and as a manager you have to do something about it.
"When it keeps happening, something has to give and it's disappointing because the lads have worked very, very hard."
Baraclough was delighted with some of his team's attacking play.
"We talked about getting the ball out wide and Martyn Woolford was the best player on the pitch.
"He deserved more for his endeavours."
The Iron boss though was less pleased with the second half stoppages when Glanford Park was twice plunged into darkness.
"When the momentum is going your way, the last thing you want is stoppages," he said.
"It's difficult to keep that going when it happens twice.
"I did not want the game to be off.
"But their manager (Malky Mackay) was saying how firm the pitch was getting and probably wanted to come back another day.
"But I didn't, I thought this was a game we could win.
"We should have come away with a minimum one point.
"To have lost it is disappointing.
"But we have got to learn how to see games out. When you have got the game by the scruff of the neck, you have got to learn how to win them.
"Unfortunately when things are not going well, you just lack concentration at crucial times."
The victory was Watford's fifth successive league win – the first time they have managed that feat since 2007.

“I needed wellies, not adidas gazelles in the SET (the most expensive seats)...wading through an inch of water to reach the urinal.
That should be decked in marble with an African gent offering aftershave options and 'blade' style Dyson hand dryers by now.
IMHO the toilets at GP are worse than those at the OSG - where is the full legnth mirror FFS.
As for the floodlights - I hope we get a big fine...at least it would show that the money we all see coming into the club actually goes somewhere.
Up the Iron!”

“Ooooh, cool down Dave, you'll overheat! I'll point this out for you again, because you seem to be oblivious to how football works: EVEN IF YOU BEAT US AT HOME, IT WILL STILL ONLY BE ONE ALL FOR THE SEASON, AS WE HAVE ALREADY BEATEN YOU AT YOUR PLACE. I know you're not the sharpest tool in the box, but hopefully you understand? Now, get back to your goat.”

“Get real McCartney. In ten years, Laws got us out of Lge 2 twice (with one promotion immediately followed by relegation), almost had us in the non-league, went to Sheff Wed (sacked after one year) then Burnley (sacked after one year).
No wonder PDoff says what he does about you.
You may remember that Adkins was relegated in his first season in the NPC but made it back next season. He also suffered the brickbats that Bara is getting. And Bara has Adkins/ Whartons summer signings to contend with. Not forgetting the more useless ones (Jones) made earlier.
Even if we go down, which looks likely, he should have the chance to position for promotion. If by next Xmas it looks bad then OK - dismiss.
Do you realise how much the crowd hate Laws ?”

“Spot on Nick. Bara should not have brought on Godden and Cowen - Scunny were on top and despite gifting them a soft goal- were looking the team more likely to win.
Daft, dumb, amateurish decisions.
Never thought I would say this, Bring back Laws!”
