There was a dramatic finish to the match between the teams of Charlie Morris and Steve Redhead, in which the latter produced two brilliant fight backs.

The Morris quartet shot out of the starting blocks with some excellent bowling and, having been in front 6-0 early on, they proved their early lead was no fluke by stretching it to 13-2.

But the Redhead squad worked hard to turn the score around and managed to claw it back to 13-12.

Once again the Morris rink accelerated away, creating themselves a 21-13 advantage with just three ends left to play.

Back came the Redhead squad again, scoring four shots, one shot and a dramatic four on the final end to steal the victory by just one shot, 22-21, and heave a sigh of relief.

In Division Two, the Dave Copley team are in top spot ahead of Graham Teal's team – the only two teams with a 100 per cent record.

Close encounter best sums up the contest between the teams of Julie Hargraves and Ron Simpson.

The match ebbed and flowed – with both teams leading at some stage – but despite remaining close throughout, three shots on the final end was not enough for the Simpson squad, who were edged out 15-14.

No games were played in Division One of the Evening Pairs, meaning Steve Burton and partner remain in top spot.

A match played between the pairings of John Fleming and Frank Pike developed into a nail-biter of a game, though the latter scored eight shots in the last five ends of an intense battle to claim a satisfying 18-17 success.

In the Veteran Rinks Division One, Pat Lowe's team are setting the pace, with the teams of Jean Anderson and Tom Whiteley shadowing closely behind, only two points adrift at this early stage.

The meeting of the teams of Maurice Selby and Derek Fox produced a game of two opposite halves.

Initially the Selby team set off well and were 9-5 in front at the halfway stage, but their opponents then quickly started their charge, scoring a total of 14 shots across the final eight ends to Selby's one to seal victory.

In Division Two, the team of Neil Berry is in first place with Eileen Horton's team still unbeaten in second position.

John Roope's team played against Harold Pearson's team in a match that turned out to be extremely close until the final stages.

The Pearson team won three of the last four ends to wrap-up a 14-10 win.
