Motorcyclist, 19, dies a week after hitting wall in Scunthorpe

A 19-year-old man has died after a motorcycle crashed into a garden wall in Scunthorpe.

Police have confirmed the man, who is believed to be the rider of a red-coloured Suzuki 550 motorcycle, died shortly after 2am this morning at Hull Royal Infirmary.

Witnesses into the incident, which happened shortly before 5am on Sunday, November 4 near the shops on Willoughby Road, Scunthorpe, have been asked to come forward.

A police spokesman said: "Witnesses who may have seen the motorcycle or heard it being ridden by one or two men in the area of Willoughby Road, are asked to contact police."

Witnesses are asked to contact the police quoting log number 164 of November 4, 2012.

Following a number of inquiries, police arrested a man in his 20s, who is not believed to have been travelling on the motorcycle with the injured man.

He has now been released on bail to a date in December, pending further enquiries.
