National interest in Humber renewables
RENEWABLES: The Humber's strength in the renewables sector is this week being showcased to more than 5,000 delegates at one of the UK's largest renewable energy events.
Humber represen- tatives at Renewables UK 2012 in Glasgow are highlighting to visitors how the region is progressing to create one of the world's largest rene- wable energy hubs.
Being the closest to all three of the UK's largest planned offshore wind farms and development sites adjacent to deep water ports, the Humber's ability to offer Original Equipment Manufacturers and their supply chains the opportunity to make cost reductions on a major scale is being fully promoted in a bid to attract investment.
Humber Local Enterprise Partner- ship manager Richard Kendall is joined at the event by represen- tatives from the four Humber local authorities, Team Humber Marine Alliance, Grimsby Renewables Partner- ship, University of Hull and nine local companies. He said: "This is the second impressive presence we have led at a major renewables event."
