Nelson: It will be a test of character and we will want it more than Preston
FANS looking for free-flowing and attractive football may want to avoid Glanford Park tonight.
Scunthorpe United face bottom side Preston North End in a crunch relegation clash.

War of attrition: Michael Nelson.
It is a game neither can afford to lose, with the importance, and indeed the state of the turf, pointing toward a war of attrition, according to Iron centre-back Michael Nelson.
"It is going to be a battle and about who wants it more," said the 30-year-old.
"I am sure the boys will want it more than Preston.
"It is pretty much the same as every game here, the pitch dictates the way the game is played.
"It will be a test of character, but your character gets tested every day of the football season – whether you win or lose, whether you're in the team or not, whether you are injured or fit.
"There is always something to test you.
"But there are some old heads in the dressing room who have played many games and hopefully they will help the youngsters get through it so they can go out and play without any fear."
Nelson was quick to stress tonight's contest is not the all-or-nothing affair that many believe it to be.
"There is nothing more riding on tonight's game than there was on Saturday's game," he added.
"If we win, we'll get the same amount of points as we would have done on Saturday.
"It is not make or break by any means. But it is a massive game."

“Well, that couldn't have gone much worse. Nelson - you owe me one.”

“"If we win, we'll get the same amount of points as we would have done on Saturday." The point is, Michael, that we needed 4 or 6 points from the two games, not just 3. In fact I would not be surprised if we do what we have done so often before and allow a team to end a bad run with an easy 3 points against us.”

“Back The Admiral! I think we're due a towering, Izzy-at-Charlton-style header tonight from the big man. That is if he can get off the ground with all those opposition forwards in his back pocket.”
