EVENTS: A Hull networking group that has generated more than £500,000 in refe- rrals over six months is on the lookout for new members.

BNI Hull Marina was founded four years ago and became the first BNI group in Yorkshire to hold its weekly meetings at lunchtime as opposed to breakfast.

The group, which is part of Business Network Intern- ational, currently has 21 members who each represent different trades and services.

Chairman Mike Drinkall, of Easy Ele- ctrics in Cottingham, said: "I have been a member of the group since its inception four years ago.

"It is a really supportive group and we are looking to grow to about 30 or 40 members.

"We are quite unique in having a noon to 1.30pm slot; we were the first BNI group in Yorkshire and one of the first in the country to meet at lunch.

"We did this because we realised not everybody can make breakfast meetings."

BNI is the world's largest business referral network, and the Hull Marina group is one of 6,271 BNI "chapters" throughout the world.

It meets every Friday lunchtime at the Mercure Hull Royal Hotel in Ferensway.

The group is keen to attract a personal fitness trainer, a photographer, a landscape gardener and a business banker.
