New Terrace Bistro and Tea Room opening in Kirton Lindsey on Saturday

TWO friends who will recognise a life-long ambition by opening a tea room have signed up to the Buy Local campaign.

The Terrace Bistro and Tea Room, at the Fair Gardens Plant Centre in Kirton in Lindsey, will open on Saturday (January 12).

Owners Diane and Jane say they want to attract as many local suppliers as possible.

Jane has been in the catering industry for more than 25 years and Diane has always had a keen interest in baking. Diane said they could not wait to open to customers.

"We are to specialise in home-cooked food using locally sourced products, including home-made cakes and puddings," she said. "We are able to cater for large groups, parties and functions and future events to include themed nights comprising a meal and entertainment.

"Customers are invited to pop down either for breakfast, speciality coffee and cake, freshly prepared lunch, afternoon tea or for a roast dinner on Sundays."

Situated at the new purpose-built building at the garden centre, the tea room will be open every day from 8.30am. Buy Local aims to boost local trade by offering discounts to card holders.

Jane said: "We will be trying to attract as many local suppliers as we can to support them and bring something new to the community.

"A couple of months ago, we were asked to tender for the business and we were successful. I have worked in the trade for a long time but it is very different when it is your own.

"Diane is the finance guru, so between us we are hoping it will be really successful. We both have a real passion for food."

Jane explained that until January 19, two main meals from the specials board would be available for £10. She also said further offers would be available in the future.
