He said limited resources meant that now, more than ever, community relations and working with partner organisations were key to policing.

"I am delighted to be back, as I have spent a lot of time working in this area," he said.

"I will be able to use my local knowledge, having worked with local partners and local community groups, and build on established relationships and productive working relationships.

"As policing inspector, it will provide me with the opportunity to build on them and I am looking forward to seeing some familiar faces.

"I will be involved in the day-to-day running of policing operations and providing to the residents a good level of service and to reduce crime."

“He needs to keep an eye on his bosses. Matthew Grove was recommended not to take on Paul Robinson as his deputy by a Police and Crime Commission Panel but does it anyway. Robinson then gets caught talking on a mobile phone when driving and is allowed to get away with it. 'Allo 'allo 'allo. Wot's going on 'ere then?”
