She then became a healthcare assistant as she was too young to undertake her nurse training.

She has recently been appointed matron for children's services and will work with colleagues to help shape and develop services across North Lincolnshire for paediatrics.

Mrs Rusiecki, of Bottesford, said: "I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed matron.

"This new role will enable me to work more strategically in developing children's and neonatal services across the area, which is incredibly exciting. I worked as a staff nurse for a couple of years before being appointed as an acting team leader on the Disney ward.

"I then joined the nursing support team, working alongside neonatal nurses and midwives in providing additional support for high risk deliveries and emergencies across children's services."
