New plans for biomass site
NEW plans for a controversial biomass plant near Brigg will be discussed at a public meeting tomorrow.
Developer Eco2 will soon resubmit plans for the £80-million straw-burning power station, which has been earmarked for the site of the disused sugar beet factory at Scawby Brook.

DEMONSTRATOR: Protester Joe Coleman, of Scawby, who is one of the residents unhappy about the proposed biomass plant at Scawby Brook, with a placard at a protest demo.
The original application was withdrawn in September because of flooding fears at the site.
Eco2 will deliver a presentation to Brigg Town Council's planning and environment committee at the Angel Suite.
Brigg town mayor Mike Campion said he was looking forward to seeing what changes had been made to the application.
He said: "The main concern last time was the number of lorries using the site and the second concern was the flooding aspect.
"Members would like to see that site developed because it is a brownfield site and we would welcome anything that brings jobs and extra money to the area."
North Lincolnshire Councillor Neil Poole said he too had concerns about transport issues at the site.

“Whatever the problems with communication ECO2 should be given permission, and support, to build the plant. There will be jobs associated with the build, operation and maintenance and the supply of straw. Lets get on with it before the company goes elsewhere! There will be traffic, but it is a price worth paying for the investment and revenue into the Scawby and Brigg area.”

“According to the town mayor - "we would welcome anything that brings jobs and extra money to the area" - me thinks they have already made their minds up!”

“Couldn't agree more Bill d'Elsewhere - ECO2 promised to keep residents of Scawby Brook informed of any developments and once again they have failed to - once again they will pull the wool over the eyes of the Town council with the promise of non-existent jobs for local people.”

“Does neither the Council or Eco2 have any concerns over the public feelings in this matter. No one locally is aware of this (planned?) meeting. Once again communications with local residents appears to be a problem for both parties.”

“Good to see ECo2 have kept up their record of not informing the residents of Scawby Brook. Those most affected by the plan about the public meeting.”
