"As a nation, we have learnt from the past.

"We had requests from some of the parishes to replenish their salt.

"The parishes have been going around laying it down on footpaths and hard to reach areas.

"Barnetby has requested more salt and we are going to provide them with this.

"It is working in the community.

"Temperatures got down to -7C last night and the gritters were out between 2.30am and 5am this morning.

"They are expected to be going out again today.

"Later in the week, there is a high possibility of more snow and we will be monitoring this."

The council is urging drivers to take care on roads, as there will be ice on some of the region's roads.

North Lincolnshire Council has received no information regarding any school closures in North Lincolnshire today.

The latest Met Office forecasts predict that light snow will hit Scunthorpe again on Thursday night and will continue through to the weekend.
