North Lincolnshire Council to sell chopped logs

From Friday 5 October 2012, North Lincolnshire Council will be selling chopped logs.

The logs, which are from trees at the side of roads that are dead, dying or dangerous, will be available every Friday between 9am and 2pm at the council depot on Northampton Road, Scunthorpe.

The logs cost £52.50 (including VAT) for a large bag (approximately one tonne), and £26.25 (including VAT) for a small bag (approximately half a tonne).

Those interested in buying logs are asked to contact Emily Wainwright on 01724 297849 to book a time slot to collect them.

“The logs provide great value for money and are available to the public.

“Please don’t just turn up. If you are interested, you need to contact the council on 01724 297849 to book a time slot for collection.”

    “This has been lifted word for word from the NLC website. No mention of how the average householder is supposed to transport one tonne or half a tonne of logs. Hiring transport means the cost is no longer good value. A quarter of a tonne could be moved by car.
    What steps are NLC taking to prevent unscrupulous persons selling them on?”
