The dancers, all of whom are from North Lincolnshire, are Amy Savidge, Bethany Rushby, Charlotte Beadle, Charlotte Callaway, Charlotte Robinson, Emileigh-Joe Dixon, Emily Beadle, Emily Pearson, Katie Peck, Louise Bell, Lucy Wainwright, Mary Hanley, Megan Brand, Mollie Plaskitt, Rebecca Hewitt and Rosie Middleton.

They will perform a cheerleading piece, combining classic cheer dance with intricate pattern changes, to a piece of mixed music.

School principal and choreographer Christine Rushby said: "We are all delighted for our piece to have been accepted. We believe it will be an absolutely glorious experience for the team to perform at the Royal Albert Hall.

"We think it will be character building and a momentous occasion to join together with others to celebrate our love of dance."

Megan Brand, 16, said: "I'm so excited that the girls and I were chosen for Dance Proms this year. It's going to be a wonderful experience and is such a great opportunity to dance in an iconic venue."

The Rushby Dance and Fitness centre is home to five cheer teams and has achieved more than 100 Cheerdance team and solo wins over the past eight years.

Darcey Bussell, president of the Royal Academy of Dance and patron of Dance Proms, said: "Dance Proms provides young dancers from all genres with the opportunity to dance in a truly inspirational setting and I am honoured to be a patron of the project.

"It is important that young dancers have as many opportunities as possible to experience performing in productions, so that they learn how to perfect their beautiful art form."

Dance Proms at the Royal Albert Hall is open to the public and tickets are now on sale from £12 through the Royal Albert Hall Box Office on 0845 401 5045 or on the website – www.royalalberthall.com
