Nurses suspended at Scunthorpe hospital following restraining allegations

Five nurses at Scunthorpe General Hospital have been suspended after allegations of restraining were made against them.

The allegations have been made against staff on the Disney Ward at the hospital.

It is alleged staff on the ward restrained a baby.

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust confirmed it has now started an inquiry into the incident.

Wendy Booth, Trust Head of Governance, said: “We can confirm an incident has occurred which the Trust is investigating. We are keeping the family fully informed. It would not therefore be appropriate to comment further at this stage.”

Humberside Police has been made aware of the allegations, and has now started an investigation.

A spokesman for Humberside Police said: “Police can confirm that a complaint is being investigated following an incident which took place at Scunthorpe General Hospital.

“This is currently in the very early stages and police are working closely with the NHS Trust to fully establish the circumstances of the case.”
