Old Newtonians are no match for focused Greenies
Jade Portas scored a brace of tries as Scunthorpe Ladies beat Old Newtonians 25-12.
Wearing their new-look shirts, supplied by sponsor Glorious Foods, the Greenies started strong, attacking the opposition 22 from the off and winning a penalty which fly-half Mel Wright landed between the posts.
The home side kept up the pressure, but on the 20 minute mark Old Newtonians' outside centre crossed the line in the corner to score against the flow of play.
The hosts though, were not to be denied. Prop Emma Gadd, on her return from injury, forced her way over to score in front of the posts.

This try, converted by Wright, was followed five minutes later by a great pick up at the base of a ruck by Arline Danby, who enjoyed her first try for the Greenies.
Scunthorpe, leading 15-5, made a couple of changes at half-time, but the visitors, who appeared to have had a strong talking to at the break, were next to score when their centre scored her second try of the game.
This spurred the Greenies back into action and less than 10 minutes later they were camped on the opposition five-metre line.
Great driving from a back row of Rachel Ireland and Le-an Mahoney cleared the way for Portas to go over in the corner and put her side 20-12 in front.
Suddenly, the home side could sense this match was theirs for the taking.
The final score came five minutes before full-time when influential captain Angela Grey offloaded the ball to man-of-the-match Portas, who sprinted the length of the pitch to score.
