Bottesford Infants School pupils use plastic bottles to make the schools recycled greenhouse which is taking shape in the school grounds.
It is being built using £7,000 of Awards For All Lottery funding and is now being used to show pupils where food comes from, as well as looking at different techniques for growing plants.
School headteacher, Vilma Orchard, said: "So many areas of the curriculum can be delivered in an exciting, hands-on way through this garden.
"You have got the obvious things like science but also, it has made the children more aware of recycling because the greenhouse we have got here is made entirely of recycled bottles, which the children have brought in from home.
"The wildlife area will be good for them to hunt out minibeasts and the quiet areas will be good for thinking, listening to stories and sketching in the warmer months.
"It is not just a garden, it is an outdoor classroom."
One of the distinguishing features of the garden is its greenhouse.
Mr Cavill said: "We are building a hexagonal recycled greenhouse.
"We have used 450 bottles and we need another 600.
"We have been planting potatoes and carrots and there are beans to put in over the next few weeks."
