In the Scunthorpe Mixed Pairs 12.30 Bowls League it's all change with the Stan Shellard pairing heading the table with Geoff Hobbs and partner in second place with only shots difference separating them.

Arthur and Zoey Hewitt played against Cline Ellis and Linda Salmon in a match that was dominated in the first half of the match by one team.

The Ellis rink shot out of the starting gate with some quality bowling to earn themselves an early lead of 9-1.

Unfortunately the Hewitt pair could not seem to get a foothold in this difficult game.

Meanwhile, the Ellis duo continued to play well, extending their lead to 16-1 and eventually winning 18-13.

The Mixed Pairs 2.30pm (Monday) Division One sees Phil Boulton and partner topping the table with Alex Mullin following closely in second position.

Eleanor Nicholson, partnered by Roy Drury, played a match against Mary and Barry Walls.

At five ends played, suddenly the Nicholson pair burst into action, scoring 11 shots in the following six ends to take a 15-5 lead.

Although the Walls pair battled on, they were unable to stop the Nicholson pair from winning the match 18-9.

Dennis Chambers and partner have shot to the top of the Division Two table, shadowed by the Ruby Heatley pairing in second place.

It turned out to be a game of two halves when Bert Major and Jackie Pettitt played Les Adlard and Evelyn Wilson.

The Adlard pair settled into their rhythm straight away building an advantage of 6-0 over their opponents.

However the Major duo were determined to do better and battled hard to level the scores at 12-12 with just two ends left to play.

The Adlard pair scored one shot on the first of the final two ends but the Major pair managed to score three shots on the final end to secure a 15-13 victory.

The Mixed Pairs 2.30pm (Friday) Division One still has Len Lammas and his partner heading the division with an unbeaten record, followed by Stan Shellard and partner in second.

A match in which Steve and Maureen Blakey played Bill Hutson and Ruby Heatley turned out to be a real battle.

At the last but one end of the match the Hutson pair had retaken the lead by just one shot at 12 to 11.

The final end provided the drama in which the Blakey pair scored two shots to take the victory by just one shot at 13-12.

In Division Two, it's Brian Bristow and his partner who have edged their way to the top of the table on shot difference, closely followed by the Rita Davey partnership in second.

Elaine and Russell Harrison played against Brian Bristow and Eileen Howsam in a match that remained fairly even until the halfway point but then the Bristow pair pulled clear to win 21-9.

The Ladies League sees Greta Deboer's team two points clear over nearest rivals Barbara Sims's team.

A league match between the teams of Ann Major and Elaine Harrison resulted in an extremely close game.

It was the Harrison team that took an early lead of 8-3 and led 12-8 shots by the three-quarter mark.

Although the Major squad played well in their attempt to pull back the deficit, it was Elaine Harrison's team that hung on to secure the victory by 17-11.
