Fortunate Five, which consists of five youngsters aged between 10 and 16, wanted to create a better community.

Team member Beth Ladlow, 16, said she was shocked to win the prize.

She said: "I still can't believe it.

"Originally my mum kept it a secret that we had made it through to the finals but when we found out we were really shocked and happy.

"The younger girls are really excited, which is nice.

"We didn't mind if we went away without a prize so to get one is great.

"We are going to continue to help out the local community in any way we can.

"I feel very proud of all the good work we have done."

Beth was joined by Jasmine Bright-Larkin, Alyssha-Mae Ladlow, Aaron Lidgett and George Thornton for the project.

They set out to raise funds for Brigg Gymnastic Club and raise awareness of LIVES first-aiders.

To achieve this, they helped the community with gardening, car washing and dog walking.

They also helped out at a sheltered housing complex and hired a minibus to take the residents on a day trip.

Alexander's Angels members Hannah Piggott, Freya Trippett and Georgia Sitch, all 12, spent the summer raising £3,800 for Epworth youngster Alexander Strong.

Hannah said: "I would like to thank everyone who has helped us raise the money over the summer and for all the help we received."

The top prize of a holiday to Florida was won by the Daisy Chains team, from Cottingham in East Yorkshire.

Among the other North Lincolnshire teams to be successful at the awards were Crazee Cuckoos and Team LOL.

They joined the Naughty Narnas team and the Three Amigos in winning a PGL adventure holiday to Wales.

In addition, The Barrow Moles, Bizzy Fingers and The Triplets plus 1 won a day out to Alton Towers.

Malcolm Joslin, of Lifestyle's principal supporter BP, said: "The Lifestyle awards ceremony is always a special event in the year for us – a great evening with so many inspirational young people who really deserve this recognition."
