Pay-per-view funerals by webcam
MOURNERS will be able to make their loved one's funeral no matter where they are after Scunthorpe's Woodlands Crematorium launched live webcasts of services.
The £30 pay-per-view service means absent family members can attend funerals via their desktop computers.
-

INSTALLED: One of the new cameras.
Grieving relatives will be given a unique password to access the live video - the first of its kind in North Lincolnshire.
The system has been set up by Kettering-based Wesley Music which has been broadcasting funerals across the country for about two years.
North Lincolnshire Council cabinet member for neighbourhood and environment Coun Len Foster said it was a welcome addition to the crematorium's service.
He said: "I'm glad we are able to provide people in North Lincolnshire with this service and I'm sure it will be welcome to any family or friends who cannot attend the service of a loved one for whatever reason.
"It's always difficult saying goodbye to someone.
"But hopefully with the new music and webcast system it will be a bit easier for people organising a service."
Booking a webcast will add around £30 to the bill for a funeral at the crematorium.

“Personally I think it's a great idea - if you don't like it, don't use it, it's as simple as that.”

“I think a lot of people have missed the point & it's not been reported properly - I've used this service elsewhere, so take it from me.
The family pays £30 one-off along with the other arrangements ONLY IF they want it recorded. The family then give the username out to those they want to and you can watch it over and over, all for the one fee. People viewing don't have to pay at all - that would be an extra tax and nobody would do it.
Families have the right to choose and it can really help if people want to see it and can't be there, regardless of what other opinions are. I know it helped me!”

“I can not believe the ignorance of some people! Am affraid this is the society we live in today, ,like it or lump it; and the ability to see off a loved one when you are ill or unable to attentend will be a comfort to some. And you can not watch every1's funeral you idiots!! As the the person who wrote about Jade Goody...what has she got to do with it u twirp???!! she wasn't a crack head so why would her kids be, people like u annoy me, u are pathetic as she was trying to do what she thought was best and i bet you couldn't raise that much money to provide for your kids after your death, you probably live on benefits and your children probably will also!! If people havent' got anything nice to say don't say it at all!”
