Burton travelled to play Beacon in their Fallen Hero Scunthorpe Sunday Football League Dave Ward Cup semi-final.

Burton were missing three key players and it showed when Martin Pembleton curled two free kicks into the top corner within the opening 30 mins.

Burton pulled one back on the stroke of half-time through David Brown and then Ross Belton hit the post from a free kick as Burton finished strongly.

David Brown made it 2-2 shortly after half-time and when he completed his hat-trick with 15 minutes left it looked like the comeback was complete.

Belton then cleared of the line as Beacon pushed hard and they found an equaliser when Jason Pembleton headed in a long throw to send the game into extra time.

Neither team wanted to make a mistake and it became a game of set-plays as the pitch deteriorated.

Beacon scored from another free kick with three minutes left in extra time when Robin Wood headed in at the back post.

Burton picked themselves up and with the last kick of the game, Callum Render put the ball into the box and Olly Gowland superbly volleyed into the net to send the game to penalties, much to the annoyance of Beacon players who surrounded the ref.

Beacon then won 3-1 on penalties as Williamson was the only Burton player to score - Belton, Brown and Fawcett all failing to beat the keeper.
