PEPPERELLS' hopes of winning the Lincs Sunday Cup came crashing down when they were beaten 5-3 by Grimsby side Jubilee Inn.

Goals from Wayne Graves, Sean Singh and Jack Muldoon were not enough to send the Scunthorpe side into the final.

But Pepperells club secretary Vim Singh was frustrated to have lost the game as he had to play an inured goalkeeper.

"We dropped a bit of a clanger because we had to play our keeper, who was seriously injured the week before," Singh explained to the Telegraph.

"He tore a ligament in his ankle but we only found out on the Saturday morning before the game and didn't have time to get a new keeper signed on.

"One of their goals was scored from near the halfway line because our keeper couldn't get back, so we dropped a bit of a clanger.

"But we had some good chances. Wayne Graves should have put us 2-1 up but hit the post from two yards.

"But I honestly think we had the better chances. They scored from a free-kick and then we went 3-2 up and I thought we had it in the bag then.

"But we couldn't hold on to it and they scored a few more."

The reigning division one champions of the Fallen Hero Scunthorpe Sunday League are still in with a chance of silverware however.

There is still a place in the final of the Dave Ward Cup versus Queen Bess up for grabs.

Pepperells have to replay their postponed second round match against Auld South Yorks for the right to face HTE Burton in the semi yet though.

Queen Bess sealed their place in the final with a 6-0 win at Broughton Town.

Howden's Lodge and Janney's All Stars will meet in the final of the Ted Harrison Cup.

Howden's were still locked at 2-2 with Baysgarth after extra-time but won a penalty shoot-out 5-3 and Janney's beat Broughton Reserves 5-2.

Barton Broncos will meet either AFC Mallard or Chaplins in the final of the Geg McGowan Cup, after beating Queensway 4-1.

MFM Academicals beat Bevers Joinery 4-3 to book their place in the final of the (H) Nobby Clark Cup, where they will face either Appleby Wanderers or EJ Galaxy.

A 5-4 penalty shoot-out win edged Messingham Juniors past Beer La Caruna in the semi-finals of the Mick Stockdale Cup, where they will face Goxhill, who beat Mayfair 4-2.

The biggest win in the third round of the Bob Bedford Cup was at Belton, where Real Ale Crown were thrashed 7-0 by the visiting Gunness.

Meanwhile, division three AFC Mallard were also big winners when they beat division four side Trinity 6-0.

With so much cup action taking place, Winteringham had the chance to take over at the top of division one, but they were held to a 2-2 draw at HTE Burton.

It was top versus bottom in division two as leaders Priory Cobras travelled to Hibaldstow Wanderers and came away with a 3-2 win.

Crowle Keys comfortably won 5-2 in their division three relegation six-pointer against bottom-of-the table DSV.

Pepperells Reserves moved to within three points of division four leaders Ferry Road Reserves thanks to a thumping 7-0 win against CMB.

Division five leaders Bottesford Town Reserves smashed Jolly Miller 10-0 to push five points clear.

Division seven leaders New Holland Villa maintained their 100 per cent record with a huge 13-0 thrashing of bottom-of-the-table Wicked Bar Wanderers.
