“Here's hoping it will serve any one of a number of cuisines that Scunny sadly lacks! We certainly do not need anymore Indians, Chinese's or Pizza/Kebab places!!!
The only thing I would say poses a problem with the location is the lack of parking for a restaurant and also the lack of a pub or bar to go for a drink in before or after a meal - I know there are ones nearby but they look about as alluring as going for a drink in the Jockey on Shameless!!!”

“It's one thing questioning the thinking of someone who wants to make that sort of investment in that location - it's another questioning the mental capacity of whoever wrote the piece.”

“PDoff, I've just had a look at the planning app, thanks to Brian, and it has been submitted as a restaurant & takaway. So for you to say the Telegraph has self elevated it to a restaurant is totally wrong and mis-leading.
Might I suggest it is you, for you own derogatory purposes, that has downgraded it to a cafe.”

“Hazzers - forgive me but I was not mocking your area. It is what it is and like many areas of the town is underdeveloped and has suffered from the cyclic nature in all aspects of life - social, entertainment and business. Whilst any new venture in any area should be welcomed we should look at it in perspective and balance.
I fail to see calling this a restaurant is a true reflection and is systematic of local news having to report any developments in a way that makes them look what they are not. Recently we have had the Currys / Dixons outlet in town taken over by a retailer that preys on the vulnerable but the fact the Unit had been taken over was lauded by this site.
The fact that a takeaway / cafe has been elevated to a restaurant is no different.”

“Some of the posters may mock this story but you have to realise here in the area we are not the most affluent of people. Our neighbourhood is never going to supports an up market eaterie. This shop is in a prominent location in our community and to see it empty is unsightly, hopefuuly if it is given the go ahead it will be a shot in the arm for our area.”

“Is it a cafe? Restaurant gives the impression of something up market and specialised, a bit like Winteringham Fields. As soon as a takeaway is mentioned that sort of lowers the expectations and then you look at it's location it lowers them even further.
For the Telegraph to describe the locations as prominent seems to be somewhat short of reality and smacks of bigging up. Can anyone shed light on what the finer points actually are?”

“Mrs Worth and myself can't wait for the grand opening.
Scunthorpe folk should be dancing in the street at the arrival of yet another fine dining establishment.
Hopefully they will insist of formal dress – dinner suits and cocktail dresses as a minimum, given its "prominent" location it is obviously going to be a "top end" establishment - and thus needs to keep out the riff-raff.
Hopefully they'll be a uniformed doorman and valet parking, so I can bring the Bentley.”

“I live nearby and we already have 2 chippies and 2 Chinese's in the area, lets hope it will be a Kebab & Pizza place or even an Indian.”
