Players need to hit the ground running next season - Knill
SCUNTHORPE United players will get a seven week summer break before reporting back to Glanford Park for pre-season training.
But manager Alan Knill expects all of them to come back in good shape.
-
PREPARATION: Scunthorpe boss Alan Knill.
"They will each be given a fitness programme to work on during the summer before they come back on the last Thursday in June," said the Iron boss.
"The pre-season work is going to be massive for us this time as we look to bring five or six new faces into the squad.
"I use pre-season to really nail down what I expect of my team.
"We work on the defensive side of our game and on the attack.
"Therefore when the players do hit the pitch, they know exactly what is expected of them.
"And once the season starts, really nothing should change after that."
United's pre-season programme of games is still being finalised, though Knill is not looking for too many.
"You have to be careful. You want to work them hard but the most important thing is that you don't pick up any injuries," said Knill.
"Injuries then can have a big impact on the way you start a season."

“players signing new contracts meens nothing nowadays mike, sorry to tell you, all it does is adds to their transfer fee, seriously though good look next season, i meen you need ryan lowe to keep you up, its not like you have any other decent players so having a one man team is your only chance of staying up

“I'm not bothered about Alan Knill alias (Yootha Joyce) you can keep him.I watched the wonderful celebrations of the Bury fc public turning out in their thousands down the Rock yesterday, have already bought my season ticket for 20011-2012 and have also the wonderful news that most of our squad have signed up 2 year contracts including the aforementioned Schumacher and Lowe.Ajose has discussed terms with Nigel pearson at Dull City today but it appears he thinks he can break into the first team at United that's Manchester United hee hee.A man has to know his limitations and from where i'm standing Knilly is resigned to mid table mediocrity good luck though (you will need it with twindling gates) at least it will be easy to leave your stadium early when the poor results come next season.”

“Please can we not have games against Brigg, Gainsborough and the usual crappy local teams. Let's get a decent Premiership one for a change!”
