“How do we know that Andrew Watson wasn't wearing a helmet? People who wear helmets also die in collisions, you know.
A helmet isn't going to stop cyclists being hit by 2 ton vehicles. Reducing speed limits would, and would make collisions less deadly for all cyclists.”

“I don't know anything about this collision, so will not comment, except to say it's a tragic incident.
Maybe it's time a law was passed to make it compulsory to wear a helmet when riding a push bike, as it is in Australia. A few years' ago I had a friend who fell off her cycle and hit her head on the kerb edge, if only she had been wearing a helmet I believe she would not have died.”
