HANDMADE pork pies from a farm in Northern Lincolnshire have been put on sale at a Jamie Oliver eatery at Gatwick Airport.

Redhill Farm, near Haxey and Blyton, is providing 50 pies a week to Union Jacks, which is tapas-style bar and the first in the UK to open under the new brand.Jane Tomlinson, founder and managing director of Redhill Farm, said: "When they wanted us to supply them the worry was that they would want thousands per week sending all over the country, which would have been awful as we wouldn't have been able to supply them.

"Luckily the pork pies were to be used exclusively for their new one-off Union Jack's Bar at Gatwick Airport so we could supply them.

"We developed a smaller individual size pork pie for them to use on their Union Jack's Bar menu – suitable for British tapas.

"For me that was such an amazing part of all this – we weren't supplying an ingredient to them to be lost on a menu – we were supplying them with our pork pies which they were putting straight on the menu."

The West Sussex airport near London is the second largest in the UK.

Union Jacks will be in the north terminal.

The 6,000 sq ft restaurant is part of a £1.2 billion revamp.
