Proud to fly the flag - but make sure it's he right way up!
What a great year 2012 has been to reignite the pride in the Union Flag.
The Queen's 60th Jubilee, the Olympics and the Paralympics – what a great thing to be proud of, showing what we do best.
More and more people and many more buildings decided to raise the Union Flag but – and there is a but – how many are upside down?
The truth is that it is a criminal offence to fly our flag other than with the broad white strip at the top of the flag pole.

I bet there were many children who haven't been exposed to the flag as happened this year and there is a new generation being taught to respect and love our flag.
Keep this going, stay proud and keep flying the Union Flag.
You might wonder why I haven't called it the "Union Jack" as most people do, well the only time our flag is referred to as the "Union Jack" is when it is raised on board a ship.
God Save the Queen!

“Dear Mr Wells,
It is not a criminal offence to fly the Union Flag incorrectly. I challenge you cite the Act or section of the Criminal Code which makes it illegal to fly the Union Flag incorrectly.”
