PRIMARY school children will be asked for their thoughts on education and facilities as part of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.

The move was suggested at the latest BSF meeting, held at Winterton Comprehensive School on Tuesday night.

As with previous meetings, turnout amongst members of the public was very low.

Kevin Maloney, consultant headteacher of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) project, said: "I think it's important we consult with all primary schools.

"We are trying to flag this up to all parents that it affects them and that the process has already started.

"Once we get to wave seven more people will get involved with the concept."

School governor, Robin Shawyer, said: "What we need to do at this school is be aware of what the primary school children are thinking so that what happens here is ready to mesh in with them.

"They need to be aware of that before the BSF project gets to the design stages."

Getting the wider community involved in discussions is proving a difficult task but the views of current students are also key to the project's progress.

The final BSF consultation meeting will take place tonight (February 26) at South Axholme School, Epworth.
